There are no extra charges for additional subjects or detailed scenic backgrounds—these are all part of the service.

My most popular option is a 12×16″ portrait in pastel, priced at £600. This size is ideal for a single horse and offers a perfect balance of detail and presence, without needing a large wall space.
What’s Included?
Why I Don’t Charge Extra For Multiple Subjects
I charge a standard price for each portrait size, regardless of how many subjects are included. The reason is simple: whether I’m painting one highly detailed horse or two smaller ones within the same space, the time and effort involved is very similar.
For example, a single horse painted in detail at around 9″x13″ in a 12″x16″ portrait takes just as long to complete as two horses painted at approximately 6″x9″ each in a 12″x16″ portrait. While a single subject may involve more hair and finer detail, multiple subjects mean extra features—more eyes and noses. In the end, the overall time and complexity balance out.
What do Other Artists Charge?
Commissioning a portrait is a personal investment and prices can vary widely depending on the artist’s skill, experience, and reputation. As a general guide, professional equestrian artists typically charge anywhere between £500 and £2,000 or more for a comparable size and level of detail.
