You can make an initial inquiry, send some reference photos or start your order by filling in a few details on the contact form below or on any page and I will email you to discuss or confirm your commission.

You can also send me your subject photos as jpegs straight to my email address:

I am always happy to discuss anything about your commission before starting work on your order to ensure that I have as much information as possible.

How to Commission a Horse Portrait:

Starting Your Order

You can upload your photos directly in the contact form when you get in touch. Please feel free to send me as many reference photos as you like. It’s always really helpful to see the subject from different angles and in different lighting.

When you have sent me your reference photo or photos I usually prepare some digital compositions to give you several versions of your portrait to choose from or to give you an idea of how the portrait will look.

All the relevant details of the commission including size, medium, composition (if variations were offered) special requirements and price will then be confirmed by email in a formal quote. You can then accept the quote and your portrait will be added to my waiting list.

From Photo to Painting

When your commission reaches the top of my list, I’ll begin work on your portrait. Artwork takes between 10 to 40 hours to complete depending on size and medium. Oil paintings may take a little longer and will need a further few days to dry enough for posting.

I don’t usually send work-in-progress photos because artwork can look horrible in the early stages and will not fully look like the subject until the final details have been added, when the portrait comes magically to life!

If you’re interested in the process and would like to see how your portrait has been painted I can take step by step photos for you to receive after the completion on the portrait.

When your portrait is finished I will email a scan of your portrait or a photo if it’s an oil painting or is larger than 12″x16″ in size and any alterations can be done at this point.

Payment and Delivery

When you are completely delighted with the portrait I will email to you an invoice which can be paid by debit card/credit card or Paypal. Other payment methods include BACS (details are listed on the invoice) and either cash or cheque if you are collecting the portrait.

When payment is received I’ll post out the artwork to you in secure packaging via Royal Mail Special Delivery for delivery within 1 – 2 working days to UK addresses. All artwork is insured and trackable while in transit.

Leave a Review

I’m always delighted to receive feedback about your portrait and reviews on my facebook business page are very gratefully received. I also now have a dedicated testimonial page on my website. Thank you.
